다른 탄소 함량에 따라 크롬철은 고탄소 페로크롬(C 함량 10%), 저탄소 페로크롬(C 함량 0.25%), 마이크로 탄소 페로크롬(C 함량 0.03%-0.15%)으로 나눌 수 있습니다.

페로크롬의 탄소 함량이 낮을수록 제련이 어려워지고 전력 소모가 많아지며 비용도 높아진다. 탄소 함량이 2% 미만인 페로크롬은 스테인리스강, 내산강 및 기타 저탄소 크롬강을 제련하는 데 적합합니다. 탄소 함량이 4% 이상인 페로크롬은 일반적으로 볼베어링 강판과 자동차 부품용 강판을 만드는 데 사용됩니다.
